Demolition
Derby Rules
Preparation
of Vehicle
1. Any
stock hardtop automobile. No imperials, hearses, ambulances, or
limousines. Station Wagons are allowed.
2. All
glass, chrome, plastic, and door handles removed. Wheel weights also
need to be removed. Car needs to be swept clean.
3. Any
size and type of tire is allowed. Doubled or loaded tires are allowed.
Valve stem protectors are allowed. We don’t like slow moving vehicles
and neither does the crowd.
4.
Battery or batteries may be any kind or size. They need to be covered
and secured safely.
5. Gas
tank needs to be removed from stock position. They need to be either
behind driver seat or in the middle of rear seat compartment. Fuel cell
or boat tanks are advised. The fuel line needs to be secured to tank and
inside of car. You also need to cut or poke a hole in floor beneath or
around fuel tank to let fuel dump out, in case tank becomes punctured.
This will be inspected closely.
6.
Doors, hood, and trunk must be wired, chained, bolted, or welded shut.
If hood and trunk are welded shut, there must be a large enough hole for
inspection.
7. Deck
lids on station wagons need to either be removed or able to open. Do not
weld these down.
8. Any
type of engine or transmission. (ex. Ford –Chevy) Chained, welded, or
homemade motor mounts can be used. Do not make mounts to reinforce
frame.
9.
Stock rear ends only. No Truck or floater rear ends. Should be five lug.
10.
Transmission coolers may be run. If so they must be secured safely.
Please no rubber lines.
11. Frame seams may be welded on outside of frame. Do not weld
inside of frame. Do not weld holes of frame. If frame has been broke,
you may fix this. Do not use steel that is heavier than frame. Do not
extend plates more than 4” past where it was broke. If you are unsure,
CALL!! Do not plate and try and get away with it. Do not paint or
undercoat frame anywhere. If there is any slag or welding wire seen
inside of frame we will consider that as welding inside frame. Frames
are subject to be drilled!!
12.
Body seams may be welded solid. Do not double body panels. You may cut
fender wells for clearance. Rear fenders may be cut and folded. You may
weld or bolt these back together.
13.
Bumper shocks may be welded solid. Bumper mounts may be welded or
chained to frame. Bumpers may interchange. A-arms and ball joints remain
stock. Trailing arms on rear end may be shortened and strengthened as
long as it doesn’t reinforce frame.
14.
Body mounts may be removed. Oversized bolts and washers can be used.
Extra mounts can be used every 12”.
15. Car
must have working brakes at start of derby.
16. No
leafing coil sprung cars. Factory leaf sprung cars must not have more
than 12 leafs to a side. Leaf springs must stagger down in size from
largest to smallest. Coil spring cars can have springs bolted or wired
in.
17. You
may have roll cage or roll bars in car. Cage must conform to drivers’
compartment. Bar across dashboard and behind seat needed. Bars
connecting both bars are allowed. Bars coming down behind seat to frame
allowed. Bars must come straight down. Do not have kickers coming out to
support frame. There should be no bars in rear seat compartment. Bar or
wire coming from top of windshield to hood strongly advised.
18. If
there is any question’s at all about preparation of car, Call!!
19. Judges
and inspectors decisions are final!!
Event Rules
1.
There will be no sandbagging. If you’re not coming to hit and put on a
show, then don’t come. That is the easiest and simplest way to put it.
The crowd doesn’t like it and neither do the judges.
2. No
teaming allowed!! If you are holding a person for your buddy and they
don’t make a partial aggressive hit on both of you then you will be
warned. The next time your both gone. If it comes down to two cars that
run together (it’s easy to tell-we will know) you better hit. If both
cars are able to make aggressive hits and don’t, don’t be surprised
when the officials stop the derby and award the money and prizes to 3rd
and 4th place vehicles. All you have to do is hit.
3. If
there are any questions or complaints about any car you need to make an
official aware before the drivers meeting. Then it will be discussed at
the meeting. If cars need to be re-inspected, they will.
4. No
hot dogging or riding on cars anywhere on fairgrounds.
5. If
your car is out of the heat of action, stay in car and leave helmet on.
If there is a red flag, we will let you out of your car.
6.
There will be no changing of drivers in cars. If you drove the car in
the heat, then you will drive the rest of the derby, unless, injured or
circumstances beyond your control.
7. No
equipment of the fairgrounds will be used to straighten or anyway help a
car. We will gladly help load all vehicles after the conclusion of
event.
8. If
your car stalls, you will have 1 minute to get it started. Then you will
have 30 seconds to hit another vehicle. If the derby comes down between
2 cars and they get hung up, we will stop the derby and pull you apart.
9. One
fire, we will distinguish. Two fires, your out.
10.
Rollovers. If your car is rolled, we will turn the car back over.
Officials will have the final decision if you can continue or not.
11.
Anyone who has complaints needs to pull an official aside and talk to
him/her respectively. Do not yell or curse at officials while they are
doing their jobs.
12. If
there are any questions or comments call!!
